ICMA Webinar: Transition finance in the debt capital market

ICMA and a panel of highly influential external stakeholders gathered for an insightful webinar examining the current debate on transition finance, exploring how sustainable bonds and capital markets are shaping the landscape.

The webinar included a presentation on the findings from ICMA’s recent publication “Transition finance in the debt capital market”, followed by a debate on the progress achieved with official and market based guidance such as transition plans, taxonomies, pathways and roadmaps, and certifications on the challenge of financing the hard-to-abate sectors.

The panel examined whether the use of this guidance can effectively address reputational risks and controversies and unlock transition finance for hard-to-abate industries at a much larger scale, including through the issuance of climate transition-themed bonds.

The event was held in English.
