ICMA Women’s Network: Building a career path with leadership and confidence, Copenhagen, 16 January 2019
Hosted by Nordea

Common expectations required of women in the workplace include doing one’s best at everything, doing the right thing, trying to please everyone, not causing trouble, etc. But ultimately, are these expectations holding us back, leading to unfulfilled careers and wasted potential? Of course it is important to do one’s best and maintain values, but in career terms, maybe it’s time we start to think laterally. Drawing from her own career path and imparting practical tips along the way, Stine Bosse will discussed how to go about displaying our potential leadership credentials without alienating people, how to gain the confidence to assert opinions, make difficult decisions and take risks, and how to nurture our ambition and harness it towards forging a successful career, without having to compromise on integrity and individuality.

Stine Bosse is a Danish businesswoman with a global mindset. She has distinguished herself by her dedication to ambitious company goals, growth and sustainability and by the remarkable results she has achieved through strong leadership, clear governance and efficient turnarounds. ICMA Women’s Network Event - Sustainability: the perspective of influential women in the rapidly growing ESG market, London, 1 November 2018
Hosted by HSBC

Green bonds, social bonds, sustainable bonds and other innovative financing solutions have in recent years been catapulted into the mainstream of debt capital markets funding. Reflective of the increasing importance of these asset classes, issuer and investor momentum is accelerating as connections are made between doing well and doing good, with the common imperative of long-term sustainable economic growth. ESG credentials and sustainability are now featured in many investment mandates, often linked to gender diversity. And it also just so happens that the sustainability space is well-populated with women. These are all very powerful metrics, which could be representative of a shift not only in mindset towards a more sustainable future, but also towards a more diverse workplace.

This event assembled a number of senior influential women in the industry, those who provide thought leadership and are at the centre of this innovation. They explored the impact of these developments on the finance industry and the workplace as a whole, as well as discussing their own career paths.

ICMA Women’s Network Summer Event - Embracing change: future proofing your career with FinTech, London, 3 May 2018
Hosted by Allen & Overy

We hear every day about the FinTech revolution that is sweeping through the industry (also RegTech, WealthTech, Blockchain and many other variations on the same theme) but what does this radical change actually mean for the way debt capital markets will function in future? And, for those of us working in established financial institutions rather than dynamic tech start-ups, what do we need to do now to position ourselves for career advantage in this exciting new environment?

Commentators often write about the sector’s need for diversity but, in practice, FinTech remains a male-dominated specialty. What are the barriers to entry to a FinTech-based career for women? Can we repurpose skills that we already have to make the transition? Alternatively, how can we acquire the skills that we need to be part of the revolution?

In the future, most employment will be subject to technologically-driven change, so embracing flexibility and adaptability will be key as we reinvent ourselves throughout our working lives. This IWN event set out to illuminate the world of FinTech, with a panel of female FinTech experts sharing their own career experiences and knowledge.
