The ICMA European Primary Market Forum assembled issuers, investors, underwriting banks, and other market participants to consider how economic conditions, regulatory policy and other global influences are impacting the functioning and development of the primary bond markets in Europe through various lenses, including fintech and sustainable finance. Featuring a keynote from the Chief Economist of HSBC and panels of industry experts, this event provided a great opportunity to gain practical and topical insights in key primary market developments.

Primary bond markets have remained resilient in spite of persistently high inflation leading to tightening in monetary policy, sluggish economic growth, higher rates and fluctuating liquidity. Our panellists will share views from their respective functions on how this economic context, combined with current global events, affects behaviours, dynamics and projections in different parts of the primary markets, trends in new issue execution and the outlook for the bond markets in 2024.

Panellists will consider whether the market is keeping pace in terms of infrastructure, market participation and documentation, and discuss the potential for DLT in growth areas such as sustainable finance and emerging markets.

In this discussion, the panel will share views from their respective functions on developments in sustainable and climate transition finance, including market responses to greenwashing concerns, implementation of upcoming regulation, the role of ISSB standards and ESG ratings and data providers.

I understand that my reservation for the above conference shall be accepted and confirmed if ICMA sends me a respective confirmation in writing within 3 business days from receipt of my registration. I also understand that if ICMA does not send me such confirmation within the specified period my reservation could not be considered.

I agree that ICMA shall have the right to cancel conferences at its own discretion for any reason (including e.g. if a sufficient minimum number of participants is not reached before the start date of the relevant conference).
