CPSS/IOSCO Principles for Financial Market Infrastructures
In March 2011, the Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems (CPSS) and the Technical Committee of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) launched a comprehensive review of their existing standards for financial market infrastructures (FMIs). Given the interconnectedness of financial markets both across sectors and globally, these new “Principles for financial market infrastructure” are designed to ensure that the infrastructure supporting global financial markets “is even more robust and thus even better placed to withstand financial shocks at the present”. These principles will apply to all systemically important payment systems, central counterparties and trade repositories (collectively FMIs).
